Members Present: Vicki West, Buck Peterson, Karen Groop, Virginia Nelson, Kaaren Ness, Pearl Ross, and Pastor Mike Laakko. Also Present: Rachael Koivisto, Worship/Music Committee Chair (voice, no vote).

The following action were taken:

The treasurer’s report was accepted and current bills will be paid as funds allow.
A letter of resignation from Outreach Chair Lucy Korhonen was accepted.
A letter of resignation from bookkeeper Gail Koski was accepted.
A motion was tabled to purchase battery-operated vigil candles in order to compare options of dripless/smokeless candles versus battery-operated candles.
Look into the possibility of a United Lutheran sponsored day care.
The Ash Wednesday service on February 22 will be held at 7:00 p.m., followed by mid-week Lenten services to be held in the chapel beginning at 7:00 p.m. preceded by soup suppers at 5:30 p.m.
Resignations of Vice-President Buck Peterson and Treasurer Virginia Nelson were accepted.
Pastor Mike’s December report was accepted.
The Executive Committee will be elected and all other Council positions will be elected at large for staggered 2-year terms at the congregation meeting.
The Executive Committee was given authority to recommend the annual congregational budget at the annual meeting.

CORRESPONDENCE:

Letter from Habitat for Humanity which will be posted.

The next Church Council meeting will be Monday, February 13, at 6:00 p.m. with boards meeting as scheduled. Any member of the congregation is invited to sit in committee or Council meetings. Visitors and non-Council members have voice but no vote.
